My Education

I have had a widely varied educational background. My first undergraduate degree is in Music Education, which I received from the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma. I then went on to complete an Associate's in Visual Arts, focusing on ceramics, which is where I gained an interest in art history. From there, I completed my MA in Art History from the University of North Texas, where I was exposed to the Texas Fashion Collection as well as several archives in the north Texas area. Upon completing this degree, I began to seek out archival positions, especially with museums, and discovered that candidates were preferred to have an MLIS from an ALA-accredited institution. I returned to UNT for a second master's degree, as they are ALA-accredited, and was fortunate enough to be accepted into an internship with the City of Dallas Municipal Archives. While I have certainly had a great deal of experience in higher education, I plan to continue my professional education through resources provided through organizations such as the ALA and the American Alliance of Museums in order to stay current with trends and technology within the field.
